Ulli writes, "During the descent Pete and Al were fortunate to watch a breathtaking Earthrise with Australia just coming into view. This event is documented in Al's beautiful 'Kissing The Earth'."

Out on the surface, while Pete was setting up the S-Band antenna and getting ready to aim it at Earth, he said:

115:54:26 Conrad: Al, can you find the Earth? Where's the Earth? Oh, there it is. I can see it. Hello there, Earth.
