Students will compare the Moon with the Earth and work in cooperative teams to build a scale model of a portion of the Moon’s surface. The goal of this activity is to help students consider lunar geology when choosing the optimal landing site for a human landing system.
Students will:
- Identify the similarities and differences between the surfaces of the Earth and Moon, with an emphasis on geologic features.
- Create a scale replica of a portion of the surface of the Moon.
- Propose improvements to their models given more time and materials.
