Element Manager, Human Factors and Behavioral Performance

Sheikh Ahsan’s NASA career includes serving as a subsystem manager and leading cutting-edge flight hardware development projects in the NASA Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate’s Power and Propulsion Division since 2008. He has contributed to directorate-level and center-level research and technology endeavors, assuming the role of principal investigator for several engineering evaluation studies.

Currently, he is the manager of NASA’s Human Factors and Behavioral Performance element within the Human Research Program. In this role, Ahsan sets strategic goals for risk reduction efforts and manages element resources for ongoing and projected tasks. He plays a critical role in ensuring successful completion of the element’s research priorities.

Before joining NASA, Ahsan gained human spaceflight experience working with Lockheed Martin and the Boeing Company. During his time in the industry, he participated in the design, analysis, and integration tasks associated with the Orion, International Space Station, and Space Shuttle programs.

Ahsan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in systems engineering from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Additionally, Ahsan has completed a project management certificate program from the University of Houston-Downtown.
