Deputy Director of the Office of Center Engagement and Business Integration Services

Shaunna B. Lovell is the deputy director for the Office of Center Engagement and Business Integration Services (PX) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Experience

Prior to joining NASA, Lovell spent 19 years as a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force/Space Force Civilian at Patrick Space Force Base/Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, culminating as the director of Space Launch Delta 45 Plans and Programs Office. As the director, she led and oversaw a broad spectrum of activities, serving as the primary interface for all new customers, community engagement/external affairs initiatives, and legislative affairs on behalf of Space Launch Delta 45. She also served as a senior advisor to the delta commander, vice commanders, and executive director.

In her capacity as director, Lovell orchestrated planning efforts, developed local strategy, and formulated communications plans that aligned with Space Launch Delta 45’s goals, notably contributing to Spaceport of the Future initiatives and influencing the long-term vision and development of the spaceport. Her leadership extended to overseeing contingency plans, memorandums of agreement/understanding, and the international affairs.

Prior to this position, Lovell served as the deputy for the Plans and Programs Office, where she managed day-to-day operations for the Plans Section. Her responsibilities included collaborating with the front door team on commercial space policy matters, onboarding federal customers, spaceport strategic planning, and liaison to the commercial space industry, DoD, other federal entities, community, and academia.

Lovell started her career as a DoD intern, progressively advancing through various roles within the space launch/operations domain. Navigating key positions, her expertise spans across space launch and range operations domain with a concentrated focus on spaceport/strategic planning, commercial space launch/federal programs, and external relations/customer engagement.

Education

Lovell earned a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, and a Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

Personal

Lovell grew up in a military family, which meant she moved frequently due to her parents’ Air Force service. Lovell’s journey brought her back to the Space Coast, where she resides with her husband and children.
