Nancy Fleming

Technical Assistant, Human Research Program

Nancy Fleming began her career at NASA as an International Space Station avionics and systems instructor for astronauts and flight controllers. Since then, she has served in various roles at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Fleming has been a project manager for the Astronaut Training Facility and the program integration manager for mission operations. For the latter, she evaluated operations and oversaw budget plans, certification plans, and management metrics. Later, as a lead for the cost and schedule analysis branch of the Performance Management and Integration Office, she coordinated, monitored, and performed work related to estimating, planning, and programming. This included developing risk-based forecasts and estimates for major aerospace programs and projects.

Fleming currently serves as technical assistant for HRP, establishing and addressing strategic plans, processes, and workload needs for the program. She is also one of NASA’s Open Innovation Academy fellows, specifically investigating how crowdsourcing opportunities can be integrated with HRP.

Fleming holds a graduate certificate in advanced project management from the Stevens Institute of Technology and a project management professional certification from the Project Management Institute. She received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, both in mathematics, from the University of Houston.
