Lesley R. Lee
Manager for Policy Development and Integration
Ms. Lesley Lee is the Manager for Policy Development and Integration in the NASA Headquarters Office of the Chief Health and Medical Officer (OCHMO). She works with stakeholders across the Agency to document and coordinate policies and directives within the OCHMO purview, including those to assure occupational and medical welfare of the NASA workforce, medical system quality, and the ethical conduct of human and animal research. The policy office also documents agreements and best practices through Memoranda of Understanding with external entities and collaborates with the Engineering and Safety & Mission Assurance Technical Authorities to assure integration of applicable OCHMO requirements.
Ms. Lee began her career at Johnson Space Center in 1994 as an integration coordinator for astronaut medical and research activities before, during, and after space flight. She coordinated these activities in the U.S. and Russia for 4 NASA-Mir, 3 ISS, and 26 Shuttle crews, including the first ISS crews to land and launch in quick succession from Russia (ISS Expeditions 6 & 7) following the Shuttle Columbia accident. Her breadth of experience in spaceflight human health and performance also includes science and management support to the JSC Cardiovascular Laboratory, Non-Exercise Physiological Countermeasures Project, and EVA (extra-vehicular activity) Physiology Project. Her most recent NASA positions were as Project Manager for the Lifetime Surveillance of Astronaut Health project and Health & Medical Technical Authority Integrator for the Human Landing System Program.
Ms. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree in Education, Kinesiology/Cardiac Rehabilitation from Virginia Tech.
