Professional Biography
Dr. Jordan Sakakeeny is an aerospace engineer in the Aerospace High Density Operations Branch of the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center. Dr. Sakakeeny began his NASA career in 2018 as a Pathways intern working on taxi time prediction for the Airspace Technology Demonstration 2 (ATD-2) sub-project. After the completion of his doctoral program, Dr. Sakakeeny began work with the Pathfinding for Airspace with Autonomous Vehicles (PAAV) sub-project under the Air Traffic Management Exploration (ATM-X) project, where he is working on developing a concept of operations for integration of remotely-piloted cargo aircraft into the national airspace system.
Dr. Sakakeeny earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University in 2021. His doctoral research focused on leveraging multiphase direct numerical simulation and theoretical derivations to predict the oscillation frequencies of supported droplets. His other research includes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling of de-icing fluid runback and CFD and theoretical investigations into hypersonic boundary layer stability and transition. Dr. Sakakeeny earned an M.S.M.E. in 2017 and a B.S.M.E. in 2015, both from Baylor University. Dr. Sakakeeny is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
