Research Interests

My research focuses on Environmental Control and Life Support Systems, specifically research and development of new technologies for air revitalization to be used in future crewed missions on spacecraft, stations, and surface habitats. My team’s development projects span the breadth of physio-chemical methods of capturing and managing CO2 as well as other air constituents including water vapor and trace contaminants.

Projects have included: Air-Cooled Temperature Swing Adsorption and Compression system (AC-TSAC), a passive zeolite CO2 compression and accumulation system; CO2 cold surface Deposition system (CDep), a sorbent-less, thermally-driven CO2 capture system; and Liquid Amine CO2 Removal (LACR), a capillary- driven system enabling passive air-liquid contact to capture CO2. A flight experiment confirming microgravity operation of LACR components and geometries, Capillary Sorbent Visible System (CVS), has flown on ISS.
