Diana Cruz-Topete
Cardiovascular Discipline Lead, Space Radiation Element
Diana Cruz-Topete serves as the cardiovascular discipline lead for the Space Radiation Element (SRE), focusing on predicting and reducing the risks that space radiation poses to the heart and blood vessels.
Before joining SRE, she worked as an associate professor in the department of physiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her research has included investigations into how sex differences may influence the risk of heart disease.
Cruz-Topete earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry-Pharmacy-Biology from Universidad de Las Americas-Puebla, Mexico, and her doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. She also completed postdoctoral training at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.
