Carol Mullenax
Manager, Program Planning and Control Office
Carol Mullenax began her career in flight test engineering at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. Since joining NASA in 2004, she has managed contract work at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and NASA’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley.
Mullenax has served as portfolio manager and deputy manager for the Human Research Program’s (HRP) Human Health Countermeasures element, deputy manager for HRP’s Space Radiation element, and manager for HRP’s cross-cutting projects. Most recently, she served as the manager of HRP’s Human Factors and Behavioral Performance element. She has also completed management rotations in the Human Health and Performance Directorate and the Engineering Directorate.
Currently, Mullenax manages HRP’s Program Planning and Control Office. In this role, she leads the team that enables HRP’s overall execution, facilitating technical, cost, schedule, and programmatic risk management processes as well as reporting for the program and its elements.
Mullenax hails from Dallas and holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and a master’s degree and doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in New Orleans. She is a licensed professional engineer as well as a certified project management professional.
