Brandon Vessey
Element Scientist, Research Operations and Integration
William “Brandon” Vessey provides scientific oversight for spaceflight and ground-based analog studies conducted by NASA’s Human Research Program. His research focuses on the dynamics of teamwork over long durations, team leadership, and collective leadership in mission scenarios.
Vessey is an active member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Prior to joining NASA’s Research Operations and Integration element, he worked at NASA’s Human Factors and Behavioral Performance element and with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Army Research Institute, and the National Institutes of Health. His publications have appeared in The Leadership Quarterly, in Creativity Research Journal, and in the book series Research on Managing Groups and Teams, among others.
Vessey received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Psychology and a doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Oklahoma.
