Susan L. Kevdzija
Deputy Director, Facilities, Test, and Manufacturing Directorate
Susan L. Kevdzija is the deputy director of the Facilities, Test and Manufacturing Directorate at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. In addition, she assists in managing over 300 civil service employees and numerous support service contracts. She integrates and advocates for over $200 million in budgets to operate the directorate from multiple accounts.
Kevdzija’s office also provides management of Glenn’s institutional and test facilities’ systems and infrastructure, providing engineering and design, systems operation, project management, technician support, construction management and quality assurance for NASA, the Glenn community and the center’s external industry customers.
Kevdzija began her NASA career at Glenn in 1990 as an electrical test engineer and was appointed to the federal government’s Senior Executive Service (SES) corps on Sept. 21, 2014, when she assumed her current position. Immediately prior to this appointment, she served as the acting deputy director of the directorate beginning in August 2012.
During her 26 years at Glenn, Kevdzija has held a number of other leadership positions, including leading the coordination and consolidation of electric propulsion research and development efforts across NASA. She has also served as chief of the Planning and Integration Office for the Facilities, Test and Manufacturing Directorate; chief, Facilities Planning and Management Office; chief, Space Environments Test Engineering and Technical Branch; facility manager of the Icing Research Tunnel and facility manager of Space Simulation Test Facilities.
A native of northeast Ohio, Kevdzija received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio in 1990, and her master’s degree in industrial engineering from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, in 1994. She is the recipient of a NASA Honor Award, NASA Administrator’s Group Award, Center Director Award, and numerous Team Achievement, Special Act or Service, and Performance Awards. Kevdzija and her family reside in Strongsville, Ohio.
