Professional Biography
Dr. Aditya Das is a civil servant and research scientist in the Aviation Systems division at the NASA Ames research center. Currently he is serving as the chief of the Systems Modeling and Optimization branch in the division. Additionally, he is advising the National Airspace System (NAS) Exploratory Concepts & Technologies (NExCT) sub-project within the Air Traffic Management Exploration (ATM-X) project.
Prior to joining NASA, Dr. Das worked in academia heading multiple research divisions and managing research in robotics, manufacturing automation, and intelligent systems areas. He also served as a special member of the graduate faculty teaching robotics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and co-advising multiple masters and doctoral theses. Dr. Das also worked as a senior consultant in the IT industry supporting multiple technology areas involving big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. His research interest includes autonomous systems, human machine interaction, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and manufacturing automation. His past research was supported by multiple federal agencies and industries. Dr. Das received his Master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2005 and 2009 respectively, and an MBA degree from University of Texas at Austin in 2017.
Dr. Das is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and has authored and co-authored over 50 technical publications in international conferences, journals, and articles. He has served in the organizing committees of multiple international conferences and review committee at the National Science Foundation. He holds five US patents.
