Professional Biography
Dr. Aastha Acharya is an AI/ML researcher in the Aviation Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center, where she is currently supporting the DIP program. Her research interests are on developing advanced AI/ML capabilities to enable and enhance autonomous aerospace applications. Aastha completed her PhD in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from University of Colorado Boulder as a Draper Scholar. Her thesis was dedicated to developing novel deep generative modelling methods to model dynamics and uncertainties of complex autonomous systems, supporting DARPA’s Competency Aware Machine Learning (CAML) program. She received her BSc and MEng in Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University. She worked at Lockheed Martin Space as a Sr Controls Engineer, performing guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) on satellite systems, and was recently a postdoctoral researcher at NASA Ames through Metis Technology Solutions, supporting the PAAV program.
