Main Street Delaware First Friday – The Space to Be! 

April 5, 2024 | 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Join COSI at Main Street Delaware’s April First Friday on April 5! April’s First Friday will focus on the upcoming eclipse with space-themed activities and games for children and families. Each month offers a themed event, free children’s activities while businesses stay open late to accommodate the fun from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. These events encourage neighbors to join, walk the shops, eat locally, and enjoy the community.

April 6, 2024 | 6 p.m.

Imagination Station will host Ohio breweries participating on the 419 Ale Trail for a craft beer tasting with a celestial twist. A fun night of brews inspired by the Total Eclipse.

The Cleveland Total Eclipse Fest 2024!

April 6-8, 2024

Join COSI as we partner with the Great Lakes Science Center and NASA Glenn Research Center for Total Eclipse Fest 2024. This three-day celestial celebration will take place at North Coast Harbor in downtown Cleveland on April 6 – 8. It’s a free, outdoor, family-friendly science and arts festival featuring food vendors, entertainment, activities, free solar eclipse glasses (while supplies last), and a free community concert performance by The Cleveland Orchestra on Sunday, April 7. Celebrate STEAM learning for all as Northeast Ohio’s most active STEAM businesses and community organizations come together for Total Eclipse Fest.

Total Eclipse Fest 2024

April 6 – 8, 2024 | 10 a.m.

Join the premier eclipse viewing celebration in Cleveland – Total Eclipse Fest 2024 at Great Lakes Science Center. The Science Center and its partners NASA’s Glenn Research Center and The Cleveland Orchestra will host a three-day celestial celebration at North Coast Harbor in downtown Cleveland. This free, outdoor, family-friendly science and arts festival will feature free concerts, performances, speakers, and hands-on science activities with community partners. The Eclipse Fest will be host to NASA TV’s live coverage of the total solar eclipse from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday, April 8.

Solar Eclipse Weather Balloon Flights

April 7, 2024 | 3 p.m.

A team of students from the University of Wyoming will be launching hourly weather balloons leading up to the total solar eclipse.

COSI’s Epic Eclipse Experience

April 8, 2024

Come explore the science of the Great American Eclipse with COSI! On April 8, 2024, Ohio will experience an eclipse of the Sun as the Moon passes before the Sun and casts its shadow on the Earth. COSI will offer hands-on educational STEAM demonstrations and activities, a live video stream of the eclipse, free solar eclipse glasses (while supplies last), free STEAM kits (while supplies last), and more from 1 – 4:00 p.m. All eclipse activities will be available to the public, and general admission tickets will be available for those who want to continue the learning experience at COSI.

COSI and Land Grant Eclipse Party!

April 8, 2024

Join Land Grant and COSI for the 2024 Great American Solar Eclipse! Try the all-new Land Grant/COSI Eclipse Beer – Totality, a delicious black ale with a smooth, dark finish. During this family-friendly event, guests will enjoy hands-on demos from COSI and access to Gravity Park at Land Grant. Stop by to receive free solar eclipse glasses (while supplies last) and enjoy an eclipse with beer and science!

COSI and Columbus Metropolitan Library Solar Eclipse Watch Party! 

April 8, 2024 | 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

On April 8, join the Columbus Metropolitan Library and COSI for an exciting viewing party to celebrate the Great American Eclipse! Youth and families will have the chance to engage with hands-on science activities and storytelling around space and the eclipse. Guests will receive free solar eclipse glasses (while supplies last) as well as COSI Solar kits (while supplies last) to encourage extended learning at home. Visit any Columbus Metropolitan Library branch location before April 8 to obtain solar eclipse glasses and solar kits (while supplies last).

Celebrating the Great American Eclipse and Ohio’s State Parks: A Day of Discovery, Wonder, and Science!

April 8, 2024

Join the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, COSI, and other partners from across the state for the Great American Eclipse at Indian Lake Park and Headlands Beach on April 8. During both events, visitors will experience interactive, hands-on science activities as well as the chance to discover the wonder of nature during a celestial event. Free solar eclipse glasses will be available (while supplies last) from both COSI and ODNR. COSI will also be distributing Solar Learning Lunchbox kits (while supplies last) to encourage continued learning at home.

Partial Eclipse at The Lewis Observatory

The Zanesville Astronomy Club will have safe solar viewing telescopes from which to view the 8 April 2024 total solar eclipse. There will be a 90+% coverage by the Moon as it passes in front of the Sun from Zanesville.

Solare Eclipse at the National Museum of the United States Air Force

April 8, 2024 | 10 a.m.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 8, the museum will take you on an Eclipse adventure! Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the wide-open views of the sky as the moon passes directly in front of the sun, creating a total solar eclipse. The path of totality for the 2024 Great North American Eclipse, taking place on Monday, April 8, will stretch from Mexico to Canada, passing through 14 states. Dayton will experience 2 minutes and 43 seconds of totality, beginning at 3:09 p.m. It marks the first time since 1806 that Ohio has witnessed a total solar eclipse. We know weather can be tricky in Ohio – but don’t let a gloomy day keep you away. We are prepared to bring the activities inside, and you can view the NASA feed of the Eclipse on the big screen so we can all celebrate the day – rain or shine!

Solar Eclipse at Edgewater

April 8, 2024 | 12 p.m.

Come up to Edgewater Park with the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association to enjoy the TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE. There will be solar telescopes for safe viewing of this once-in-a-lifetime event. The eclipse will begin in Cleveland at 1:59 p.m., according to NASA data. Totality will begin at 3:13 p.m. Maximum totality occurs in Cleveland at 3:15 p.m. Totality ends at 3:17 p.m. The solar eclipse ends completely in Cleveland at 4:29 p.m. Bring a lawn chair, talk with members, check out the educational displays and spend the day with CAA.

Total Eclipse at Schoonover Observatory

April 8, 2024 | 1 p.m.

Lima will be well positioned for the April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse and will be in totality for a little less than 4 minutes. Schoonover Observatory will be central to activities associated with the eclipse in Lima. The total solar eclipse will be viewable live on the large screen TV; circumstances permitting from the telescope in the dome, otherwise it will have a live feed from another location under totality. Times listed below are local for Lima, Ohio: Totality begins at 3:09 p.m. and totality ends at 3:13 p.m. Overall, the eclipse lasts nearly 2½ hours, beginning at 1:54 p.m. local time, and ending at 4:26 p.m.

SPI's Eclipse Party at the Park

April 8, 2024 | 3:12 p.m.

Enjoy the shared experience of viewing a rare total solar eclipse with friends and neighbors, hosted by SPI at Ariel-Foundation Park. Event includes on-site entertainment (intergalactic kids rock band The Shazbotts, opportunities for science engagement and observation, Ohio history and art elements, plus food and beverage for purchase from One Love Cafe and Bike Shop and Big Pappy’s BBQ! Free eclipse glasses while supplies last. Event will take place in the lead-up to totality (at 3:12:22).
