The physical safety and EEO rights of NASA’s workforce, its contractors, and applicants, are of the utmost importance. The EEO Complaints Office manages and implements NASA-wide policies and systems for processing, adjudicating and resolving individual and class discrimination complaints. This includes oversight of the informal complaints process conducted at the NASA Centers. This office is also responsible for post administrative processing of discrimination complaints such as appeals on final agency actions and compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) orders and settlement agreements. The EEO Complaints Office also manages and implements NASA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program.
The four major functions of this Office are:
- EEO Complaints Policy and Processing
Implements policy and provides oversight and guidance for the processing of individual and class complaints pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA), Genetics Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) and other such statutes, or complaints alleging failure or denial of a reasonable accommodation for a disability in violation of the Rehabilitation Act 1973 (Rehab Act). - Investigations, Hearings, Final Agency Actions
Conducts all equal employment opportunity (EEO) investigations, facilitates hearing and issues Final Agency Actions. - Appeals and Compliance
Facilitates appeals and responsible for tracking compliance with settlement agreements and orders issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Final Agency Actions. - Alternative Dispute Resolution
Implements policy and procedures, and provides training and technical guidance for ADR Program NASA-wide. Manages NASA’s Cadre of Mediators and facilitates ADR to proactively address and resolve workplace conflicts in the EEO area.
