STENNIS SPACE CENTER TO CLOSE FOR HURRICANE IVAN

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. – NASA John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC) will close today, Sept. 14, at 4:30 p.m., due to the approach of Hurricane Ivan. The center will remain closed through Thursday, Sept. 16.

Public tours to StenniSphere, the visitor center at SSC, were suspended at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Normal operations will resume when weather conditions permit.

SSC employees are encouraged to monitor weather reports on local television and radio stations to keep updated with local conditions in the SSC area and periodically call (228) 688-3777 or other company phone lines for report-to-duty status. SSC site status updates will also be posted on http: //www.nasa.gov/stennis.
