Day In The Park Goes Virtual, Starts Oct. 5

WHAT: NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Program’s Education Resource Center is hosting its annual Day in the Park event, designed to provide local students with a day of learning intended to inspire continued interest in STEM activities. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s educational opportunity is going virtual, which allows for more widespread attendance.

WHEN: On Oct. 5, 7, and 9, students will be able to see area scientists and experts conduct demos and present their work – all from home as sessions will be livestreamed on YouTube. There will be half-day sessions covering robotics, energy, outer space, aeronautics and aviation, and climate. Sessions will go from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

HOW: We encourage members of the media to join streaming sessions to get a full sense of this virtual learning opportunity. Please visit the event website: https://sites.google.com/view/2020-dayinthepark/home . Since the event is now a webinar format, you are encouraged to visit the event website and check out the pre-activities selected by the presenters, which are provided on each session page. In addition you will find videos of our IV&V team members discussing the event.
