Celebrate Space Weather Explorers Week by joining a special live webinar with Dr. Lara Waldrop of the University of Illinois. Dr. Waldrop will share her story of becoming a space scientist and the leader of a new NASA mission, the Carruthers Geocorona Observatory, which will study Earth’s outermost layer, the exosphere. The Power to Explore Student Challenge invites K-12 students to dream up a new space mission powered by a Radioisotope Power System (RPS) to any moon in our solar system. Entry Deadline: Jan. 31

As NASA prepares for future human space missions, there will be a need to consider how various waste streams, including solid waste, can be minimized. Developing ways to store, process, and recycle waste in a space environment will be crucial so that little or no waste will need to be returned to Earth. NASA’s LunaRecycle Challenge offers up to $3 million in prizes to design and develop recycling solutions that can reduce solid waste and improve the sustainability of longer-term lunar missions.
