Flight Director Eugene F. Kranz

In this photo from the Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR) at NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center (now Johnson Space Center) Flight Director Eugene F. Kranz works at his station for the Apollo 5/Lunar Module (LM)-1 mission. Best known for his leadership as Flight Director during the nail-biting Apollo 13 mission, Kranz held critical roles in NASA's Mission Control for 34 years, from the Project Mercury flights through STS-61, the first Hubble servicing mission.
