Earth Resources Laboratory Applications Software (ELAS) is developed at NSTL and implemented worldwide, March 1978. (Alabama native Ronnie Pearson, a mathematician in the National Space Technology Laboratories' (NSTL) Earth Resources Laboratory, designed most of the Earth Resources Laboratory Applications Software (ELAS), the Laboratory's basic software package.)
