Cold shock of vapor cooling lines on SHIIVER forward skirt at GRC. Flowing liquid nitrogen through the cooling lines to make sure that they can handle the thermal stresses encountered during testing. Flowing boil-off gas through the lines is predicted to reduce the heat load through structural elements by more than 50%, SHIIVER aims to demonstrate the benefits of vapor cooling on large scale upper stages such as EUS.
