Title: F-16 Multi-Axis Thrust Vectoring (MATV)

Designer: Dave Vanhoy, AFFTC

Year it was designed: circa 1989

Explanation or story behind the patch: The F-16 MATV was another of the great crown jewels of the high angle of attack thrust vectoring research and development programs of the late 1980s and early 1990s. This project used the USAF F-16 VISTA aircraft with a thrust-vectored nozzle. A close collaboration existed between the F-16 MATV, the X-31A EFM, the F-18 HARV, and the NF-15B STOL MTV/ACTIVe projects during this time.
