NASA F/A-18B with pilot Jim Smolka and Flight Test Engineer Mike Holtz is captured in-flight by Mike Thomson over Mt. Shasta on their way back to the Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards, CA. Pilots Nils Larson and Jim Smolka and Flight Test Engineers Mike Thomson and Mike Holtz had just completed an annual F-15 training session in the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing’s F-15 training simulator at the Crate Lake – Klamath Regional Airport in Klamath Falls, OR.
