“During inspection of Delamar [Dry Lake, in preparation for an X-15 flight] Neil [Armstrong] had accident with [F-104 #] 749. Made emergency landing at Nellis [AFB]. F-104 #303 went to pick him up [Milt Thompson, pilot] & blew tires on landing. T-33 # 692 [Bill Dana, pilot] went to Nellis & brought back Armstrong.
