Mission: Hayabusa Re-entry Imaging
A stunning spectrum of the combined glow from thousands of stars at the center of our Milky Way galaxy is shown in this image taken by Ron Dantowitz of the Clay Center Observatory. He took the photo from NASA’s DC-8 flying laboratory flying at 40,000 feet altitude over the Pacific Ocean as it flew from Honolulu to Melbourne in preparation for the Hayabusa spacecraft re-entry observation mission.June 10, 2010
