With the Autonomous Module Scanner pod slung under its left wing, NASA’s Predator B unmanned aircraft, the Ikhana, headed out on a Southern California wildfire imaging mission. In response to requests from the California Office of Emergency Services and the National Interagency Fire Center, NASA flew the Ikhana, equipped with sophisticated infrared imaging equipment, to assist firefighters battling several of the Southern California wildfires.October 24, 2007
