Tracking, telemetry and command (TT&C) was an approach that NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center started testing in 1960 and quickly turned operational. Using this new approach, the Minitrack stations needed to be upgraded and new stations established. The new network emerged, replacing Minitrack. The new network became known as the Satellite Tracking and Data Acquisition Network (STADAN). New parabolic antennas were installed to accommodate more bandwidth in the higher spectrum of the S-band.
