NASA’s Ikhana remotely piloted aircraft soared over smoky terrain during a wildfire imaging demonstration mission in the late summer of 2007. For the actual mission, Ikhana, a General Atomics’ Predator B adapted for civil science and technology research missions, flew long-endurance sorties lasting 9 to 10 hours each beginning Oct. 24 from its base at NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base.August 9, 2007
