Marshall engineers also pushed the limits of propulsion technology in the field of X-vehicles and other advanced transportation systems.
Marshall scientists helped rewrite our understanding of gamma rays with the Burst and Transient Source Experiment for the Compton Gammy Ray Observatory. The decade culminated with the launch of both the first US module for the International Space Station and Chandra X-ray Observatory.
