Dr. Harrison A. "Stormy" Storms, Jr. was the chief
engineer on the X-15 project until he left to join the moon project
as North American's vice president, Program Development, in charge of
the development of the Apollo spacecraft. Storms had previously
served as Chief Engineer for the XB-70 Valkyrie, a task honored by
the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) 1970
Aircraft Design Award.
