Some people may wonder about the division of labor during the Apollo missions. It was always the Lunar Module Pilot who had to carry the ALSEP; and, on the later missions, they never got to drive the Rover.

During the 12 December 1969 Apollo 12 post-mission press conference, Pete and Al showed a picture of Al carrying the ALSEP. He commented, "I think it illustrates who played the mule on the flight."
