Jon is a retired industrial designer with a specialism in extruded aluminium. Since retiring, he has written a book on the great American Jazz clarinettist, Benny Goodman. Jon has had a very keen interest in the Lunar missions since the 1960's. "I vividly remember seeing the film sequences from the early Ranger spacecraft as they slammed into the moon - I've been hooked ever since". Jon was fortunate to attend the launch of the last of the Apollo missions, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project in 1975. "I'll never forget the sound of that Saturn 1B, it was frighteningly loud, I could feel it in my bones. I made a sound recording of that launch and I play it back now and then, full blast!". Jon is keen on fencing and athletics, he is very happily married with two children. A few years ago, he took his family to Florida and couldn't resist a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre to see a launch. "The kids enjoyed the launch....but not as much as Disneyland!"
