Iâve been involved in astronomy and space for over 34 years. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world many times to give presentations and lectures, visit observatories as far away as those in Australia, Chile and Hawaii and visit many space centres including NASA's Kennedy Space Centre as a member of the media to cover a Space Shuttle launch from the NASA press site.
I have met and chatted to many current and former astronauts and cosmonauts over the years, gaining a unique insight into their missions and lives, including some of the men who have walked on the moon. I was born on the 7th March 1969, the day the Apollo 9 crew docked the LEM and CSM for the very first time.
I have a great Apollo friend in the 10th Man to walk on the Moon, Charles M Duke Jr of Apollo 16 who I have known well for many years. I organise a lot of his visits to the UK and look after him when he is here.
I am a freelance space journalist, articles published in Spaceflight magazine and I have given many varied space lectures including those on the Apollo programme to many audiences. I have lectured for Cunard on the QE-2, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, and presented talks for the London Science Museum. Every month, I am the regular space guest on BBC radio in the UK Eastern region.
I am currently the director and senior lecturer for StarDome - Astronomy & Astronautics, a public outreach and professional consulting and lecturing service.
My degree is in Geo-Science/Planetary Geology and Iâm a Fellow of both the British Interplanetary Society and Royal Astronomical Society. I enjoy travelling, meeting new people and passing on my knowledge of Space Flight and Astronomy, especially the Apollo Missions.
