Description
The JPL University Crowdsourcing Initiative (JUCI) offers access to relevant JPL challenges to which universities can propose to participate in as part of their student’s educational experience. With JUCI there is no exchange of funds. Students volunteer their services to solve the challenges. JPL JUCI students will support real-world space science challenges with JPL as coach. Interactions are typically 1hr in duration twice monthly and provide opportunity to interact with JPL subject matter experts. JUCI activities have led to funded studies and provide students with enriching experiences that will help prepare them for future careers opportunities. JUCI has been the impetus for creation of new university capability, and has afforded opportunities for faculty to infuse JPL know-how into their programs. The JUCI goal is to develop long-lasting relationships supportive of the JPL mission while developing future industry talent. Faculty and students interested in participating in a particular challenge can respond with a Letter of Interest. Letter of Interest due dates and selection notification dates are specific to each challenge. Challenge initiators will make their selections shortly after Letter of Interest due dates and interested parties will be notified.
For professors interested in becoming a JUCI partner please see: https://scienceandtechnology.jpl.nasa.gov/opportunities/academic-partnerships/juci.
Being a JUCI partner you will receive challenge statements via email as they are submitted by JPL to which you can respond with a letter of interest. These emails will come from the JPL JUCI Program with the subject line JPL JUCI Challenge. Feel free to forward challenges and JUCI information to colleagues that you feel may benefit from being involved. Your help in expanding the network of partners is key to JUCI’s future success.
