Every year, NASA’s Langley Research Center’s Office of STEM Engagement, in partnership with Science Mission Directorate and Office of Strategic Analysis, Communication and Business Development, welcomes all children of Langley employees to the center for a fun-filled day of facility tours and hands-on activities. It’s all designed to inspire this next generation of explorers, engineers and researchers as only NASA can.
With the COVID-19 pandemic putting a halt to any face-to-face festivities, Langley recognized a unique opportunity to add a distinctive element to the center’s annual Langley Youth Day: the general public.
Langley’s Office of STEM Engagement invites you and your children of all ages to join us online via Langley’s Facebook page on Tuesday, Aug. 25 starting at 9 a.m. for an exciting day of virtual fun and education with live instructional demonstrations, NASA speakers, and interactive social media events featuring NASA subject matter experts.
“We wanted to make sure Langley employees and their children know that we value them and their contributions to all of NASA’s work and this day is a way to celebrate that,” said Gina Blystone, an education program specialist at Langley’s Office of STEM Engagement. “We didn’t want to lose out on that opportunity because their work certainly hasn’t stopped during this pandemic.”

- 9 a.m.: Build Your Own Mars Helicopter (for students in grades K-5), materials are needed to participate (https://go.nasa.gov/2CEf5oh)
