Research Aircraft Integration Facility Quick Facts

The RAIF is a 120,000 square-foot, multi-story building comprised of six vehicle test bays, multiple maintenance and engineering labs, simulation labs and office space. All simulation labs and office areas have emergency UPS power with standalone generator backup.

The RAIF can be configured to accommodate up to 11 simulation laboratories on the second floor. Each lab can be tailored to support varying access and security requirements, while providing audio, video and data connectivity to any of the six facility hangar bays as well as to the Dryden Mission Control Center.

The co-location of research project vehicles, simulation and a multi-discipline engineering staff allows the RAIF to support advanced aeronautical and space-based research throughout all program phases within a single facility.

Project Profiles

The RAIF has been a critical asset for the successful implementation of some of the nation’s most revolutionary and valuable research efforts. These efforts supported a variety of classes of research vehicles that cover subsonic through hypersonic flight regimes.
