Admission is free! Most guests spend an average of 45 minutes exploring the exhibits. Pets are not allowed inside the Visitor Center or on the grounds during launches or other events (except certified service animals). There is no food or drink available for purchase, but you may bring your own and enjoy them at the outdoor picnic tables. Please note that Visitor Center hours are subject to change during rocket launches. If you have questions about the hours, please contact (757) 824-1404.
The Gift Shop located at the Visitor Center is operated by an independent organization, The Wallops Exchange and Morale Association (WEMA) and is typically open when the Visitor Center is open to the public. The Gift Shop is also available online at www.nasaWFFstore.com where it offers a wide array of official NASA souvenirs and apparel. The Gift Shop can be contacted at (757) 824-1343.
The Wallops Visitor Center is closed on all federal holidays, and may be closed to the public on other days throughout the year pending operations. Please call (757)824-1404 or check our social media for the most up-to-date information.
Exhibits and Theaters
Explore with hands-on exhibits
The Wallops Visitor Center hosts a variety of information and hands-on exhibits. Exhibits include information about NASA’s Earth Science program, the engineering process with a focus on sounding rockets, information on aircraft and scientific balloons, as well as a very interactive Sun Earth Universe exhibit. Most visitors spend an average of 60 minutes exploring the exhibits.
Two theaters are located at either end of the Visitor Center, the auditorium near the entrance plays short films on a loop. In the back of the building you can find NOAA’s Science On a Sphere theater with a kiosk that visitors can use to choose their own datasets and videos to project on a giant sphere suspended in mid air!
Visitor Accommodations
NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility welcomes visitors with disabilities to participate in educational opportunities at the Wallops Visitor Center.
NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility welcomes visitors with disabilities to participate in educational opportunities at the Wallops Visitor Center. Wallops Flight Facility/ Goddard Space Flight Center will provide reasonable accommodations – such as sign language interpreters, CART reporting services and designated sighted guides for tours – to individuals with disabilities. To request an accommodation, please contact Goddard’s disability programs manager at 301-286-0561 or merechia.n.davis@nasa.gov. Goddard will make every effort to fulfill any accommodation request received. Please provide at least 3 to 5 business days advance notice of any accommodation requests related to your visit to our center.
For visitors traveling with a group of three or more individuals requesting reasonable accommodations, or for student groups with special needs, please contact the visitor center at 757-824-1404 to schedule your visit prior to requesting the reasonable accommodation. The Visitor Center is located on Route 175 in Wallops Island, VA, just before crossing the causeway leading to Chincoteague, VA. It is a 60-minute drive south of Salisbury and Ocean City, MD, and a 90-minute drive north from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The Visitor Center is the only facility at Wallops Flight Facility that is open to the public and is not located on the island or main base. If using a GPS or map app to navigate to the Visitor Center, please ensure your device is providing directions to the Visitor Center, not the main gate or island gate by using the address: 175 Chincoteague Road, Wallops Island, VA
