Tamiko Fletcher

Tamiko Fletcher is the chief information security officer (CISO) at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As CISO, she reports to the center’s chief information officer and NASA’s senior agency information security officer. She is responsible for minimizing Kennedy’s cybersecurity risk, obtaining visibility into cybersecurity operations and providing guidance for compliance with NASA’s cybersecurity standards and federal regulations.

Experience

Prior to her selection as Kennedy CISO, Fletcher served as the center’s deputy CISO for operations and lead of the IT security vulnerability management team, where she focused on center IT security compliance, ensuring systems connected to the Kennedy network operated at the appropriate security posture and protected NASA information and information systems. She was a project manager for the Agency Security Update Services and IT Security Enterprise Data Warehouse projects, which collected system data to ensure the agency was compliant with the Federal Information Security Management Act for all federal agencies.

She has served on detail with the Office of the Administrator under the leadership of former astronaut Charles Bolden in the Office of Agency Council Staff supporting executive councils. She also served as contract transition manager and center subject matter expert for NASA’s Agency Consolidated End-user Services contract for Kennedy, which is the agency’s contract for personal computing hardware, agency-standard software, mobile information technology services, and supporting infrastructure. Furthermore, she has held the role of contracting officer’s technical representative for the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA between the agency and Lockheed Martin Information Technology, a contract which managed a $41 million budget providing desktop and communication support to approximately 6,000 users at Kennedy.

Education

Fletcher began her career with NASA in 1999 as a cooperative education student. She received a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Science in industrial engineering from the University of Miami. Fletcher was selected as one of the Top 50 Most Important African Americans in Technology in 2022 by the “Journal for Black Innovation.”

Personal

Fletcher participates in various community services activities around Central Florida. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers Central Florida Section and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Central Florida Professionals, where she previously served on the NSBE Central Florida Professionals Executive Board as Chapter president. Fletcher is the president and co-founder of the Joanne W. Charles (JWC) Memorial Foundation, which her family started after the passing of her mother to ovarian cancer. The JWC Memorial Foundation is dedicated to ovarian cancer awareness and research.
