NASA’s Artifact Program educates, inspires, and builds connections with NASA through artifact loans and transfers to eligible museums, universities, and schools across the country.

Artifact Transfers

Since 2009, NASA has transferred more than 13,000 artifacts from its extensive collection of items such as science instruments and small hardware flown in space.

Eligible Organizations

• NASA internal organizations
• Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (NASM)
• Other federal agencies
• Universities registered in the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data
  System (IPEDS)
• K-12 schools registered in the National Center for Education Statistics
  (NCES)
• Nonprofit museums, libraries, and planetariums that are eligible to receive
  federal property
