The NSSC Suitability team ensures consistent, timely, and quality adjudication decisions to meet the hiring requirements delineated in the 2010 Presidential Memorandum (Improving the Federal Recruitment and Hiring Process) and adhering to OPM’s adjudication metrics.
What is Suitability?
Suitability refers to a person’s identifiable character traits and conduct sufficient to decide whether employment or continued employment would or would not protect the integrity or promote the efficiency of the service. Suitability is distinguishable from a person’s ability to fulfill the qualifications of a job, as measured by experience, education, knowledge, and skills. The Code of Federal Regulations (5 CFR 731) provided by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) establishes criteria and procedures for suitability reviews, investigations, determinations, and suitability actions. The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), Federal Vetting Center (FVC), is mandated to complete federal background investigations on NASA personnel.
