Workshop at the National Environmental Justice Conference

Helen Parache (ST11) demonstrated the Beta NASA Environmental Justice (EJ) Data Search Interface in the session “Increasing Accessibility, Discoverability, and Use of NASA Earth Science Data: Introducing the Science Discovery Engine for Environmental Justice” at The National Environmental Justice Conference (4/16-18/24). The Science Discovery Engine (SDE) team, led by Kaylin Bugbee (ST11), leveraged the SDE platform to develop the EJ Data Search Interface, including new features based on feedback from EJ communities. During the session, Yaítza Luna-Cruz (HQ) provided an overview of NASA’s Equity Environmental Justice (EEJ) activities and opportunities, participants used the interface to search for data relevant to their use cases, and Katherine Saad (HQ) and Cynthia Hall (HQ) facilitated feedback and discussion. Audience responses were enthusiastic, highlighting the value of making NASA datasets more discoverable to EJ communities.
