MSFC Disasters Team Provides Support for Flooding Events in Brazil and Houston

The Disasters Team recently has been providing support to the broader Disasters Program as they respond to different flooding events. The first event was after heavy rainfall caused catastrophic flooding in southern Brazil. The program has connected with stakeholder with the local municipal governments, US Space Force, and US SOUTHCOM. MSFC Center Response Coordinators are leading the Program’s response in supporting FEMA HQ as part of their response to the heavy rainfall across the Houston area over the last couple of weeks. In both cases MSFC has been working to provide data from both optical and SAR remote sensing instruments as well as iterating with the stakeholders to better understand their needs and challenges to each event.
