Marshall Heliophysicists and Planetary Scientists Support Eclipse Outreach Activities

Robert Loper (ST13) participated in the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse event in Russellville, AR, 4/4-8/24.  Loper gave talks on eclipse orbital dynamics titled, “Eclipse Basics,” to multiple audiences at Arkansas Technical University, Russellville City Schools, and the Moon Over Main event throughout the days leading up to the eclipse and made eclipse-day appearances on THV11, Arkansas PBS, and the NOVA Solar Eclipse Livestream about eclipse effects.  This was part of the larger MSFC response to the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse event and the Heliophysics Big Year.

Alphonse Sterling (ST13) gave a presentation (virtual) about the 2024 Total Solar eclipse to the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) on 3/22/24.  The event was entitled: “Uncovering the Hidden Sun,” and is available here on YouTube:
