In 2022, the men and women of NASA’s Langley Research Center delivered a bounty of aerospace and science achievements — significant steps that will lead to giant leaps.
It’s all detailed in the center’s 2022 Annual Report website, titled “Inspire Through Discovery.”
The report describes the year’s successes and introduces readers to the people who made them possible.
“When we join our talents, energy, and goodwill, there’s no obstacle we can’t overcome, no frontier we can’t explore,” Langley Center Director Clayton Turner wrote in an introduction to the site.
“This year at Langley, people connected and discovered solutions with potential to improve lives around the globe.”
Featured achievements include the successful NASA’s Low-Earth Orbit Flight Test of an Inflatable Decelerator, or LOFTID; a safety-focused crash test of an Advanced Air Mobility aircraft design; and preparations for TEMPO, an air quality measurement tool scheduled to launch into orbit in 2023.
Starting with the 2021 edition, Langley made its annual report a fully digital product. The 2022 report builds on that momentum by connecting viewers to a larger collection of digital content including articles, videos, animations, and photos. A year-in-review video offering a quick look back is a new feature.
Overall, the report opens a door into Langley’s trailblazing work in aeronautics, atmospheric and planetary science, space technology, and STEM engagement.
“Together, we will create a bright future,” Turner wrote in his introduction.
See how Langley researchers are shaping that future, how they benefit humankind, and how they inspire through discovery.
