IM-2 Completes First Burn
After a successful launch on Feb. 26, 2025, Intuitive Machines’ IM-2 mission is headed to the Mons Mouton region near the Moon’s South Pole the Moon. The lander is carrying NASA science instruments and technology demonstrations, as part of NASA’s CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative and Artemis campaign. All NASA instruments on board are currently healthy and the spacecraft continues to perform as expected.
Shortly after launch, Intuitive Machines successfully transmitted its first images back to Earth and on Thursday successfully completed its first main engine burn, a maneuver that fine-tunes the lander’s trajectory toward the Moon. Intuitive Machines plans to continue refining Athena’s trajectory ahead of lunar orbit insertion, planned on March 3.
