NASA astronauts Anne McClain, commander, and Nichole Ayers, pilot, along with mission specialists JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, boarded their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

Over the next 45 minutes, the crew will conduct communication checks with mission control, check their spacesuits for any leaks, and rotate their seats into a reclined position for launch before the “all clear” is given to close Dragon’s side hatch.

Following liftoff at 7:03 p.m. EDT, it will take the four-person team 28.5 hours to rendezvous and dock to the International Space Station.

During their stay, the crew becomes Expedition 73 while conducting spacewalks, research demonstrations, and experiments for the benefit of humanity and deep space exploration.
