Our Mission
At NASA Exchange, our mission is to cultivate a vibrant community by facilitating activities and services that engage, enrich and energize the NASA Family.
Our Vision
We are the heart of the NASA community, striving to make NASA the best place for innovators of today and tomorrow.
NASA Exchange are a quality-of-life program that directly supports the mission of NASA. Each center’s Exchange is unique in offerings. Every NASA Exchange exist to contribute to the welfare, efficiency, and effectiveness of the people who work at NASA. We are the hub for health, wellness, and modern workplace conveniences including services such as fitness, food service, retail operations, recreational programming, employee engagement, and celebrations support.
Exchanges are instrumentalities of the United States, with associated privileges, rights, and immunities. Exchanges are similar to a Post Exchange on a military base. The idea of an exchange is to provide personnel with employee morale, NASA merchandise, and convenience-type services and goods at reasonable prices to benefit the NASA workforce.
The exchange is a “non-appropriated fund activity” that is supported by NASA and the NASA Centers. Exchange activities shall generally be supported by non appropriated funds under the Exchange’s sole jurisdiction.

While our teams are pushing the boundaries of space exploration, discovery, and technology, there is another crucial force working tirelessly behind the scenes to support our people—the NASA Exchanges. With 12 exchanges across the U.S., each uniquely designed to meet the needs of our dedicated employees, the exchanges serve as the heart of the NASA community. They provide essential services, create a sense of belonging, and enrich the lives of everyone who is part of our mission, whether they are astronauts, engineers, researchers, or support staff. The exchanges are more than just facilities—they treat everyone like family, building a supportive environment where individuals can thrive both professionally and personally. The well-being and morale of our workforce directly impact our ability to innovate and achieve greatness. The NASA Exchanges play a key role in fostering a positive, nurturing atmosphere that allows the best and brightest to perform at their peak. By supporting the everyday needs of our people, they are helping to make NASA not only the best place for today’s innovators but also for the pioneers of tomorrow.
