“One of my favorite quotes is ‘to whom much is given, much is required,’ so if you have a gift, talent, or capabilities, it is your duty to use them for the betterment of society, your family, and yourself. That has influenced me and the outreach I do – it stems from that. At work, it aligns with the belief that if there is a request or opportunity that someone believes I am well suited for, I feel compelled to step in and help.
“Within Goddard Space Flight Center, I have been the chair of the Women’s Advocacy Committee. That includes diversity and inclusion but also making sure that people feel like they have a voice. We work in a male dominated field, and I’m a woman that has a very strong voice, but sometimes you come across people whose personalities or styles are different. When I lead teams and manage projects, I always take the temperature of the entire project and make sure that everyone’s voice is being heard. I want to make sure that I foster an environment of inclusion, equity, and opportunities for everyone.”
