NASA Dryden to Host Civil UAS Media Day

NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center will highlight the center’s use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and related technologies for civil purposes during a media day on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

NASA Dryden UAS highlights will include briefings and tours on various remotely operated aircraft, from the smallest, the Dryden Remotely Operated Integrated Drone (DROID) small UAS, to the largest, NASA’s Global Hawk that is currently participating in the HS3 Hurricane and Severe Storm Sentinel environmental science mission. Event highlights will also include emerging UAS technologies, demonstrating capabilities and benefits that will further enable next generation UAS.
The media day is being hosted by NASA Dryden with the assistance of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI).
Domestic media representatives who are U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens / legal permanent residents and who wish to participate in the briefings and tour must request credentials from Dryden’s public affairs office at DFRC-DrydenPAO-media@nasa.gov or 661-276-3449 by no later than 5 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 19.
(The deadline for foreign media personnel who are not U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents of the U.S. has already expired, and cannot be extended.)
Journalists should plan to arrive at NASA Dryden, located on Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California, no later than 7:30 a.m. PDT Sept. 26. Further information will be sent to those media representatives requesting credentials after the Sept. 19 deadline.
